London Weekend

Hey Guys! 

I have just sat down to write this blog after a very long fun filled weekend! Now that I'm back into the swing of things a Uni I feel a good weekend is well deserved. I've added some pictures of my weekend for you guys to have a look at. I'm thinking of doing a 'Things to do in London' blog very soon. I went out on Friday night to the Road House in Covent Garden and spent all of Saturday wandering around West Hampsteads brilliant charity shops nursing a pretty sore head. Today, Alex and I went for a run around Hampstead Heath which is a massive park in London. I sometimes forget how lucky I am to live by the park so I've started jogging there. Standing in a massive park that makes you feel like you're miles away from anything that overlooks the city. It really is something special. Unfortunately, on my jog today I intended on taking a lot of pictures but due to torrential rain and a thunder storm I ended up running faster than ever before. It's nice to get out and walk sometimes with nowhere to go, no worries and no reason to rush...Unless of course there's rain!

It's when I go to the shop for milk and see tourists taking pictures of everything around me that I realise how lucky I am to be in such a nice area. If you like charity shopping I really recommend a trip to west hampstead, theres five different charities along the West End Lane bursting with cute trinkets and hidden treasures like old books, homeware, vintage clothes and with a bit of luck and a sharp eye you can snap up a designer piece at a fraction of it's original cost. If you're studying English Lit they can be great for getting some of your reading list from. They cost a few pounds and when you're done you can bring them back or if you want to keep them you can write notes in them guilt free!

I have University tomorrow, I'm a bit surprised by how much of a step there has been into second year. The texts are harder, longer and we're expected to read them in greater detail. So, I've spent a lot of my days with my head buried in a book and taking notes. I'm lucky that I really enjoy it!

Foolproof Cupcakes

Hey Guys, 

During the week I decided I'd like to try my hand at baking something, I think watching  the Great British Bake-Off show is rubbing off on me! I admit, I'm rubbish at baking and I really mean rubbish. The only thing I can actually make is a chocolate biscuit cake and that's solely because it doesn't require using an oven! My sister (who is a great baker) told me to give cupcakes a go as an 'easy' bake. So here's what I did..

Ingredients - 

150g Self Raising Flour

150g Caster Sugar

Two Medium Eggs

2 Tbs of Milk

Chocolate of your choice! 

                       

Mix all of the ingredients together in a pot or dish until it's got a nice smooth consistency.

                       

Divide the mixture into these cupcake cases, that much mixture make ten for me in these cases. Stick them in the oven at around 150 degrees celsius for 10-14 minutes. Keep an eye on them. When they've raised and look golden brown on top, stick a toothpick (or something similar) into the middle, if it comes out dry and clean they're done!
